Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and the people who run the PepeNet website at pepecoin.surf and related software (together, “PepeNet”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). PepeNet is an unincorporated side project. There is no company, LLC, corporation, or other legal entity behind it. “We” means those individuals in their personal capacity. These Terms cover the website, APIs, install scripts, faucet, name directory, transaction queue, and the PepeNet desktop app (the “Service”).

By visiting the Service, installing software, creating or unlocking a wallet, registering a name, sending a transaction, or claiming a faucet drop, you accept these Terms, the Privacy Policy, the Disclaimer, and the Acceptable Use rules. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

We may change these documents at any time by posting a new version here. Continued use after a change is acceptance. The “Effective” date above is the latest version.

1. Who we are — and who we are not

PepeNet is a hobby front-end and a set of tools for names and sites on Pepecoin. It is not a business, not a product we sell, and not run for profit. We are not a financial institution, money transmitter, wallet custodian (except as stated for the faucet hot wallet, which holds our coins to give away), domain registrar in the ICANN sense, insurer, or fiduciary. We do not take deposits. On-chain rent and fees are paid to the Pepecoin protocol, not to us as a service fee.

Pepecoin (Ᵽ, addresses that start with P) is not the Ethereum token commonly called PEPE. Nothing here is an offer of securities, commodities, or any other regulated instrument.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to make a contract. You may not use the Service if you are barred under the laws of your country, including sanctions. You are responsible for following the law where you live.

3. The Service, as-is

The Service is provided AS IS and AS AVAILABLE, with all faults. It may be incomplete, lag the chain, show wrong balances or names, go down, or be withdrawn without notice. We do not promise uptime, support, or that any name, site, or coin will keep working or keep value.

Features that talk to explorers, GitHub, or other sites can fail when those sites fail. Local indexers can trail the tip. A name can sit in “claiming” or vanish from a list until the chain is indexed. That is not a promise that the transaction succeeded or failed.

4. Self-custody — your keys, your loss

The in-browser wallet and desktop wallet are self-custodial. Recovery phrases, passwords, and private keys are generated and stored on your device (for the web wallet, typically encrypted in local storage). We do not have your seed. We cannot reset it. We cannot reverse a send, claim, renew, transfer, or release.

If you leak a phrase, screenshot a QR, reuse a password, get phished, run malware, paste a command you do not understand, or lose the device, your coins and names can be taken. That is not a “hack of PepeNet” we can undo. You agree that you alone control and are responsible for your keys and for every transaction signed with them.

The one exception: the optional faucet uses a hot wallet we control, only to send small gifts of our coins. Faucet coins are not a deposit, not your balance with us, and not insured.

5. Names are not ICANN domains

A .pepe name is a record on Pepecoin with a lease. It can expire, be sold, transferred, reserved, or released under the protocol rules. We do not guarantee uniqueness forever, dispute resolution, trademark protection, or that a name will resolve in every browser. If the lease lapses, someone else may claim it. We are not a UDRP provider.

6. Sites, TLS, and other people’s content

Names can point at machines we do not run. A “live” mark, preview, or lock icon means a probe succeeded from somewhere, not that the site is safe, honest, or yours. We do not host, moderate, or back up .pepe site content except incidental directory data (for example a preview image or icon). Visiting a .pepe site is like visiting any other website: it may steal wallets, serve malware, or lie.

Local TLS helpers and generated certificates are for your machine. They are not a public CA. Mis-installing them can break browsing or trust stores. You install them at your own risk.

7. Transactions, queue, and software you run

Broadcasts are final once the network accepts them. The web queue holds already-signed transactions so a two-step claim or bid can finish after a block without leaving keys on the server. We may drop, delay, or fail a queued job. A “done” or “claiming” label is not a warranty.

Install commands (curl | bash, PowerShell iex, desktop downloads) run code on your computer with your privileges. Only run what you intend to trust. Supply-chain attacks, impersonation, and compromised releases are possible. Verify sources yourself.

8. Faucet

The faucet is a courtesy, not a right. One drop per address, captcha, finite coins. We may refuse, delay, change the amount, or shut it off. Captcha and IP checks are anti-abuse, not an invitation to farm. Faucet sends can fail or be reversed by the chain like any other transaction.

9. No advice, no investment pitch

Nothing on the Service is legal, tax, investment, or technical advice. Pepecoin and .pepe names can go to zero, stall, or fork. You are solely responsible for taxes and reporting.

10. Intellectual property

The PepeNet site design, text, and our original code are ours or used under license. Pepecoin, PEPE memes, and third-party marks belong to their owners. You may not scrape the Service in a way that harms it, pass off our site as yours, or use our marks to imply we endorse you.

You keep rights in content you publish under a name you control. You grant us a limited license to copy directory metadata, icons, and previews so the Service can list names. We may drop a listing from the directory without deleting anything on-chain (we cannot).

Copyright complaints about a preview or listing: open an issue on the PepeNetWeb GitHub organization with the name, URL, and your contact. We may hide a directory row. We cannot take a name off the blockchain for you.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, quiet enjoyment, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service is secure, error-free, or free of viruses or that it will resist hacks, exploits, key-extraction, DNS tricks, TLS bugs, or protocol flaws.

12. Limitation of liability — including hacks

You use the Service at your sole risk. To the maximum extent permitted by law, PepeNet and its operators, contributors, hosts, and affiliates are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost coins, lost names, lost profits, lost data, business interruption, or substitute services, even if advised of the possibility.

That includes, without limitation, losses from: unauthorized access; stolen or leaked keys; phishing; malware; bugs; exploits; indexer lag; reorgs; 51% or other chain attacks; mempool drops; wrong fees; failed or doubled claims; faucet drainage; queue mishaps; third-party sites and explorers; GitHub or download compromise; the curl | bash install path; TLS or DNS helper software; downtime; or your own mistakes.

If a waiver is not allowed where you live, our total liability for all claims in the aggregate is limited to the greater of (a) US $100 or (b) the amount you paid to us (not on-chain rent to the protocol) in the three months before the claim. Some places do not allow certain exclusions; in that case they apply only as far as the law allows. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited, such as death or personal injury caused by negligence where that bar is forbidden.

13. Indemnity

You will defend and indemnify us and our operators against claims, damages, and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your names and sites, your content, your transactions, or your breach of these Terms or the law — including someone alleging that your .pepe site harmed them.

14. Suspension

We may refuse, rate-limit, or block access (IP, faucet, queue, directory listing) if we think the Terms or Acceptable Use are broken, or to protect the Service. On-chain state is not ours to unwind.

15. Disputes

You and we sue only in an individual capacity, not as a class or representative, to the extent that waiver is allowed. Informal resolution first: contact us via GitHub as below and wait 30 days. These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States of America, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. You and we consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts of the United States. Mandatory consumer protections of your place of residence still apply where they cannot be waived. The UN CISG does not apply. If a court finds a piece unenforceable, the rest stays.

16. Entire agreement

These Terms, the Privacy Policy, Disclaimer, and Acceptable Use are the entire agreement for the Service. They supersede prior posts and chats about the same subject. A failure to enforce is not a waiver. You may not assign your rights without our consent; we may assign ours. Headings are for reading, not interpretation.

Privacy Policy

This policy describes what the Service collects, what stays on your machine, and what is public because it is on a blockchain. PepeNet is built so we do not need your name, email, or phone. Please do not send them — or your seed phrase — to us.

1. What stays in your browser

• Encrypted wallet vault (local storage), unlock password, and optional passkey material.
• Session keys in memory while unlocked.
• UI preferences.

We cannot read that vault from the server. If you clear site data, the vault is gone unless you have the phrase. That is by design.

2. What the server may store

• Request logs. IP address, time, path, user agent. Used to run and debug the site and to blunt abuse.
• Faucet. Pepecoin address, IP, time, and txid, so we can enforce one drop per address.
• Captcha. Short-lived puzzle id, hash of the answer, IP. Thrown away after a short window.
• Transaction queue. Your address, a label, a name, and the signed raw transactions you asked us to broadcast later. We keep them so commit→claim and similar two-step flows can finish without our holding your private key. Jobs age out.
• Directory extras. Public name data from the chain, plus optional icon/preview we fetched from the name’s own site.

We do not ask for a government ID. We do not sell personal data. We do not run ad pixels or cross-site tracking cookies. Local storage is not a marketing cookie; it is how the wallet survives a refresh.

3. What is public anyway

Pepecoin is a public ledger. Addresses, amounts, name records, DNS-style data you publish, and transactions are visible to the world, including explorers we do not control. Treat an address as identifiable if you ever tie it to yourself.

4. Third parties

The site or apps may call GitHub (desktop downloads), public explorers (confirmation counts when the local index lags), and the machines behind .pepe names (to see if a site answers and to pull a preview). Those parties have their own policies. We do not control them.

5. Children

The Service is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect their data.

6. Retention and security

Logs and faucet rows are kept as long as needed to operate and to fight abuse, then deleted or overwritten in the ordinary course. No method of transmission or storage is fully secure. A breach of our host, the faucet wallet, or a user’s device can happen. You agree we are not liable for unauthorized access except as the law requires.

If we ever have a contact channel that is not GitHub, we will list it here. We will not DM you first for “support.”

7. Your choices and rights

You can stop using the site, export your phrase, and delete local storage. You cannot un-publish a blockchain transaction. For faucet or log deletion requests, open a GitHub issue with the Pepecoin address (not the seed) and enough detail to find the row. We will honor legally required access, correction, or deletion rights where they apply, except for data we must keep for security or law, and except for the public chain (we cannot edit it).

We do not sell personal information as that term is used in the CCPA / CPRA. We do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. If you are in the EEA/UK, our processing of IP and faucet data is to provide the Service you asked for and to protect it (legitimate interests / contract). We are not trying to profile you.

8. Changes

We may update this policy by posting here. Material changes will bump the Effective date.

Risk Disclaimer

This Disclaimer is part of the Terms. If it conflicts with marketing copy on the site, this Disclaimer wins.

• Experimental. PepeNet, the name protocol, local TLS, and related tools may contain bugs. Exploits, including ones we have not imagined, can drain wallets, steal names, or break resolution.
• No insurance. Funds are not covered by FDIC, FSCS, SIPC, or any other scheme. A hack of your machine, our faucet, a dependency, or the network is your problem unless the law says otherwise.
• No recapture. Wrong address, wrong name, phishing site, poisoned DNS, copy-paste error — gone.
• Price and liquidity. Pepecoin and .pepe names may be illiquid or worthless. We do not make a market.
• Not advice. No recommendation to buy, sell, hold, or register anything.
• Third-party sites. Explore and “live” listings are not endorsements. A lock icon is not a character reference.
• Regulatory risk. Rules change. Using crypto or naming systems may be restricted where you live.
• Tax. Faucet drops, trades, and expired leases can be taxable events. Ask a professional, not this page.
• Forks and halt. The chain can split, stall, or be attacked. We may follow one history, or none, at our discretion for the directory.
• This document is not a magic shield. It is how we allocate risk with you. It does not replace advice from a lawyer licensed in your jurisdiction.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service, a .pepe name you control via this UI, or the faucet to:

• Break the law, including fraud, sanctions evasion, or trafficking in illegal goods.
• Publish or point a name at child sexual abuse material, or to content that sexually exploits minors. We will hide listings and cooperate with lawful process if we become aware of it.
• Phish, malware, ransomware, or steal keys — including fake PepeNet, fake wallets, or fake “support.”
• Attack, flood, or probe the Service, faucet, queue, or other users beyond ordinary use.
• Farm the faucet with throwaway addresses, bots, or captcha solving at scale.
• Infringe IP in a way that uses our directory as the distribution channel, or impersonate PepeNet.
• Interfere with others’ names or leases except through the protocol’s intended market/claim rules.

We may hide a directory entry, refuse the faucet, drop queue jobs, or block IPs. That does not take a name off Pepecoin. If you see abuse, GitHub is the contact. For imminent harm, contact the relevant authorities as well.
